Poppin The Cherry

Alright so it's my first blog post in the XY Chronicles. Yippee!!
Just want to give a little background on me, more than what was available in the "About Me" section.
I have always been a huge nerd. When I was in school I got almost straight A's and would have had perfect attendance if it weren't for a series of chronic illnesses that kept me in the hospital a lot.
I never really dated in in highschool. I had a string of crushes--most of which started with the letter J!--and I think I really went on one or two official dates the whole time. I was super quiet and shy when it came to guys. Don't ask my mother, she says I'm crazy and that I've always been outgoing. Senility is a lovely thing mother.
I went away to Michigan State University for my freshman year of college. I didn't really date a lot there either. What I DID find was the magical world of chat rooms. There I was able to flirt with boys all I wanted and didn't have to worry about whether or not they'd like me despite my body size.
Oh did I mention I am also a chubby girl? Well I am. I got dangerous curves yo!
I met my (now ex) husband in a chat room at the end of my first semester of college. He was super charming and knew all the right things to say to a naive 18 year old girl with low self esteem! We ended up falling in love a few months later. I look back now and wonder why I ever thought it was possible to fall in love without seeing someone face to face. Anyway we spent a year and a half in a long distance relationship, seeing each other every couple months. I lost my virginity to him in September of 1998. It was so romantic....a beanbag chair on the floor of my dorm room about an hour after I picked him up from the bus station! Okay so it was probably like a lot of your first times (oooh I should do a sharing section about that!) Don't get me wrong, I was in love and it was special in that way. I'm glad it didn't happen in the back seat of a car at prom or in the middle of a field (like my baby sister--yeah it's how we roll in the country!)
Basically I put this all out here because I want you all to know that the good majority of my dating experience came after I left my ex husband. Imagine yourself, nearly 30 years old and learning how to date? Oh yeah. Good times!
So what you'll find here is me learning my way around and navigating through all those fish in the sea. I promise you, I couldn't make this shit up.
